For those of us in the logistics industry, we’ve long heard about the looming driver shortage and its impact on capacity and trucking costs. Now, even those outside of the industry will start feeling its impact at the cash register. Long hours, time away from home, low pay and government regulations on drivers and carriers are making it hard for trucking companies to find and keep drivers. We’re now starting to see big time retailers increase their costs to consumers in order to cover the increase in shipping prices.
